Dr E. Jan Chithalen

General Dentist

Dr. Chithalen grew up in the Hamilton area attending Ancaster High School. After graduating with honours in 1987, Dr. Chithalen attended McMaster University in Hamilton, and in 1990 received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology (Summa Cum Laude).

From there he went to Toronto to study in the field of Dentistry and is a 1994 graduate of University of Toronto, with the Degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery. After graduation from U of T, Dr. Chithalen spent one year at the Hamilton General Hospital as a Dental Resident and in 1995 began working as an associate with his father, Dr. J.F. Chithalen at 118 Stinson Street. After his father's retirement in 1997, Dr. E.J. Chithalen took over the full time operation of the clinic on Stinson Street, and now offers appointments five days a week.

Dr. Chithalen is passionate about Dentistry in general making efforts to invest in the most up-to-date equipment, provide scientifically based procedures and utilize ‘tooth conservative’ techniques.

He is a member of The Royal College Dental Surgeons, The Ontario Dental Association, The Canadian Dental Association, The Hamilton Dental Academy and the Academy of Sports Dentistry (where he currently sits as a Board Member and Canadian Liaison)
Dr Ishita Gakhar

General Dentist

Dr. Ishita Gakhar is a warm, attentive, and an experienced general dentist who blends the precision of modern dentistry with the compassion of individualized care. She views dentistry not just as a service but as an opportunity for patients to feel seen, cared for, and confident in their smiles. With over a decade of diverse clinical experience across India and Canada, Dr. Gakhar brings a global perspective to practice. She currently serves patients in Ontario and has previously worked at Niagara College and various clinics across the Hamilton and Niagara regions.

Her advanced training includes mentorship with educators such as Dr. Gary Glassman, Dr. Ron Kaminer, Dr. Peter Fritz and Dr. Marcos Vargas; she remains committed to hands-on continuing education in the latest restorative and cosmetic techniques. Dr. Gakhar is particularly passionate about smile design and conservative techniques that preserve tooth structure while achieving beautiful results. Whether restoring function or enhancing aesthetics, her focus is on conservative treatment, patient empowerment, and long-term wellness. Known for her calming demeanour, attention to detail and ability to ease anxious patients, Dr. Gakhar frequently receives feedback highlighting the comfortable and reassuring nature of her care. She has also led oral hygiene education programs for older adults in the community, demonstrating her belief in care that extends beyond the dental chair.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Gakhar is a mother, beach lover and avid hiker who draws inspiration from nature and mindfulness. She is also the voice behind @thesmileandwellnessspace on Instagram, the mindful platform where dentistry, wellness and everyday calm converge through thoughtful tips and poetic education.
